Elite Craft Beer is back with a new lineup of beers. Elite Craft Beer is run buy Cambodian Jason who lived for many years in Australia but returned back to Cambodia a few years ago to pursue his dreams here.
I ventured out to this brewery about a year ago when he was just starting out. At that time he had a small bar as well, where he served a Mocha Stout and a Strawberry Weizen. At that time he had just started his brewing adventure and while I felt the beers still needed some improvement he was definitely on the right track.
At some point, he decided to close the bar and take some time off to build on the brewery. He did not brew for a few months but now he is back with a new lineup of delicious beers. The bar won’t open again, he instead decided to focus only on brewing. He has also teamed up with another Khmer brewer to combine their skills and knowledge. They have recently renewed their branding as can be seen from their logo in this article.
His new lineup party consists of prototypes. After getting feedback on the beers he will decide which ones he will brew more of. My favourites are, without a doubt, the Mango IPA and the Choco Stout, the Chompey Kölsch is also a nice beer if you like the style.

Chompey Kölsch
ABV: 5.3%
IBU: 20
Jason: “Kölsch is a German Style, I love this style, it is so similar and easy to drink like Lagers. Chompey is the Khmer name for the Frangipani flower, the beer not just easy to drink but the aroma is full-on so I could still smell it for hours after drinking.”
Mango IPA
ABV: 7%
IBU: 49
“Mango IPA is not just the name, we are using real Khmer mango (svay keov romeath) with a blend of my favorite hops Mosaic and Amarillo”.
EZI WIT
ABV: 5.5%
IBU: 18
A witbier that has the typical aroma of coriander and orange peel, but with a flavour that appeals to people normally not into the style.
Vienna Ale
ABV: 5.3%
IBU: 20
An Ale with a lot of caramelly flavours from the dark malts.
Choco Stout
ABV: 6.5%
IBU: 32.3
Chocolate malt with pure cocoa powder and milky flavour
We’re really glad that Elite Craft Beer is up and running again. The craft beer scene in Phnom Penh and Cambodia definitely need more brewers and it’s fantastic to also see some locals brewing these days.
